How to update VWAP indicator to version 2

The version 5 introduces a new licensing validation that does not rely on NinjaTrader Machine Id and unfortunately your existing default template will need to be recreated.

Step 1: Install the License Manager

The ASCENDO License Manager validates your product licenses and must be installed before using any ASCENDO products.

Note: If you’ve already installed the License Manager, skip to Step 2.

Step 2: Save your Default Template

You’ll need to recreate your default template after installing version 2.

  1. Add the VWAP indicator to a chart
  2. Access its properties window
  3. Take clear screenshots of all your current default parameters
  4. Save these screenshots in an easily accessible folder

These screenshots will help you quickly configure version 2 with your preferred settings.

Step 3: Remove all existing VWAP indicators

To avoid errors after the upgrade, remove the VWAP indicator from all your charts before upgrading.

  1. Create a new workspace in NinjaTrader
  2. Remove all VWAP indicators from your charts
  3. Save this clean workspace

Note: If you skip this step, you may see the following errors in the NinjaTrader log window:

Failed to restore Indicator ‘NinjaTrader.NinjaScript.Indicators.ASCENDO.VWAP’. Most likely (a) the implementation changed or (b) one or more properties have been renamed or removed or (c) the custom assembly which implements this Indicator no longer is there.

Step 4: Install the new version

  1. Open the NinjaTrader Control Center window
  2. Select Tools → Import → NinjaScript Add-On…
  3. In the Import File Explorer window, navigate to where you saved the product zip file
  4. Select the product zip file and click Open
  5. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the installation
  6. Restart NinjaTrader if required

Step 5: Recreate your Default Template

  1. Add the VWAP indicator to a chart
  2. Open its properties window
  3. Using the screenshots from Step 2, configure it with your preferred default parameters
  4. Save as the Default Template
